Oops, it's been a few days again!

Hello Dreamwidth, I am back! With a post! : )
There will be more fanfic chapter imports/updates as well, soon. For now, more of a journal thing?

Well, with regards to fanfic... Do you (general, non-specific, metaphorical you) know how hard it is to make Stargate Goa'uld society make sense from a "behind the scenes" perspective?? Like! We know nothing! Who even runs things? Supposedly, the Jaffa are all warriors (males) or priests (females). And the humans are all slaves kept in a "all technology is magic" state. So... so who does the shopping? Who does the building of technological things? Who makes the weapons, the ships? Where do any advancements come from? Yeah, so a System Lord will have minor Goa'uld in their court under them, but... but they're still not going to be soldering things together? Are they? Producing microchips, sorry, crystals? Like... you need skilled labour?? And if your human slaves aren't allowed to understand how any of it works... who's doing the skilled technological labour? I think... I think the most reasonable answer is "the Jaffa". So, yeah, so much for "they're only warriors/religious functionaries".

Yeah. Anyway. That's things I'm trying to figure out for my fanfic right now, : )

Happy Beltane!

Whew, long day! Still no sock pictures... Nor any sock knitting today, since I went to an event. Which was good, lots of interesting information, but boy, so much people-ing is exhausting!

I did just write a little more Symbiosis! Very pleased with that! We're not running out of chapters this week, anyway, XD

And now I'm going to sleep because I am done in for today! Windows open, because it's 24 degrees C in here... Hope there's some cloud cover tomorrow at work, because I'm still sunburned from yesterday.

Had to actually re-do half of the heel because something went wrong somewhere and I ended up with the wrong number of stitches... Oh well! Now I'm past the heel and the first stranded section, into the foot charts of the colour work. And it fits, woohoo! Comes up over my knee, these will be another set of tall socks! I guess I really need to get to sowing that garter belt to hold them up, XD

Yeah, time to go to sleep...

I will post sock pictures soon! I did the heel today, first time I've done a reinforced heel, I hope it'll be as sturdy as it feels and sounds! I used my sock yarn double-stranded as planned, but instead of just using the black, I thought, hey, why not use the black and the teal-gradient one I have? So that's what I did, and I think it looks quite neat! Lively and colourful, but matches the teals and blues in the rest of the sock. These socks are going to be taaaallllll! Now I have to pick up new stitches at the sides... Wait, after I've gone back and figured out how come I've 7 stitches on the needles right now instead of 8... Something for tomorrow, : )

More seriously, I very much enjoy this fanfiction, and it's been an intriguing challenge to synthesize something that makes sense out of the Stargate Goa'uld lore, and expand on it, to imagine how it all looks behind the scenes, so to speak. But also, I started this ages ago, and I've no idea how big it's going to get or how long it'll take. So I've decided to start posting what I have, and then we'll see. I'm still working on the skill of Finishing Things.

(no subject)

...Actually, I forgot one row on the sock, -.- Now I have to reattach the yarn. Oh well! Also it turns out I have no actual sock yarn for the heel in the right size, so I'll be doubling up my sock-weight one (4 ply?) to match these DK socks. Actual sock yarn is too scratchy for my tastes, so I knit socks in pure merino... which does not hold up to the wear and tear at the heels. So I'll be using the sock yarn for the heel, and possibly knit a patch in it across the bottom of the heel and the toes, too. I'll see.

In other news... Let's finally get to some fanficcing, huh? : )

Why's it so late already?

...Sundays sure go by fast! So fast I didn't actually do any posting, and now I really need to go to sleep because I have to get up earlier than usual tomorrow... Oh well. I'll see if I remember/have time tomorrow! I did, however, finish the full leg section of the first halloween sock! Whee! Picture to follow tomorrow, too! For now, good night! : )

Whoops I'm late

It's past midnight, but pssst! It still counts if I haven't gone to bed yet, right? Right! : )

Other than that... A bunch of writing on House Draculesti things that are unlikely to see the light of day any time soon. I'll be looking into wrapping up the professional writing for now. Go back to doing it for hobby and myself only, work on my skills without the thoughts and pressure of publishing things. I think it'll help free up creativity, get me more in touch with what I want and like to write, all of that. I'll be back to the publishing eventually, but for the next little while, it goes back into the private sphere.

Tomorrow I'll see about putting some of the current fanfic up here!

(Also, how can I get cute mood icons back? Is it my theme that's not supporting them? I only have little blue squares... *sad* I liked those, they were fun!)

It's Friday!

Hello, hi, let's keep this vague "posting once a day to dw" thing going, I guess?? :D :D It's been nice! Thanks for the comments! I DO like DW better than tumblr. Seems less scary. Less likely some total stranger from the other side of the world will jump down my throat because I said the wrong thing.

Anyway! Friday! One more week of work and classes concluded for me, and the trees are leafing out, the world is turning lush and green again around these parts. The apple trees are starting to blossom, it's so pretty! Bumblebees are buzzing about! (Hey, some nice alliteration in that sentence there, ; ) ) And I get to sleep in the next two days, and possibly play a whole lot of Stardew Valley. Virtual farming is much less exhausting than real-life one, XD

Also, I'll update my fanfic, Symbiosis, and cross post to here... Wait. That would be silly. I'll update on AO3 and post at least the first chapter here, too, : ) That makes more sense. Time to dig out the old LJ posting template with the last/next chapter links and all that good stuff. Tomorrow, maybe, or Sunday!

For now... words to write on 4thewords, and in the fanfic (maybe.) Boy, wouldn't it be great to actually finish a piece of writing one of these days... I live in eternal hope that I'll learn it yet.

Knitting fun!

My knitting of my first stranded colour-work project is proceeding! These socks are so fun, : )

It's so empty here!

This journal needs entries, clearly!

So, here's one. I'm Lily, I write original and fanfic. I want to be more active here! Maybe I'll go back to old, old habits and crosspost fanfic chapters here from AO3? AO3 is so great though. Maybe I'll only post an update notification and a link, : )

Currently, I'm noodling around on Symbiosis, which is a Stargate Atlantis/Stargate SG-1 fusion featuring Goa'uld!John. It's a lot of fun. But also, the plot really is supposed to start taking off now, I just need to write it... Well. I also play 4thewords, so if I write anything, at least that's words for that! : )

Boy, I hardly remember the old LJ posting conventions and all, what tags did we even use...? Oh well. I'm sure I'll get into it again. For now.. I made a post!
